The Graceful Japanese : The Metaphysical Mamas

http://themetaphysicalmamas.com/2011/03/14/the-graceful-japanese/
I have sat watching the scenes unfold in Japan. I am amazed at their grace, I havent seen looting, breaking the queue, fighting, yelling(like it happens in my own country) in spite of the excruciating situation.

As a regular visitor to Japan i can tell you that Honesty, Respect, Politeness and remaining calm are some of the good things born into the Japanese people.
Like you, I'd like to see the same thing here.

nothing at all like what happened during hurricane Katrina, which frankly (as my ex non American husband used to say about his own country) makes me embarrassed to be from the same country
we could all learn a lot from the Japanese culture
...keeping them in prayers

Insightful article indeed... I was married to a Japanese man for over 22 years. In that time I never heard him say anything bad or derogatory about anyone...I have never known anyone who was more generous or immediately available to help in any situation. His generosity knows no bounds.. I imagine some would say I am a bit prejudiced.. But if you knew him you would have to agree. His sense of community and impeccable integrity have made him a well known figure in this city..and he has tirelessly worked with young children for decades. Everyone who knows him has great respect for him..as do I. In this respect, I am not surprised at the integrity and deeply honorable behavior of the Japanese people. Even so, it is heartbreaking to see the ongoing devastation of their country, and I am in awe at their amazing countenance.

A very good post! And yes they are a proud and humble people, if we could learn to be more grateful for what we have.

I agree. The Japanese are dealing with this enormous tragedy with humility and dignity. We would do well to emulate them.
