I wonder what was the purpose of this Poll? What judgements can be made of people... Does it mean that Africans are the most adventurous and Asians least? Does it mean that Poverty makes People migrate, if that is so, why only Africa, and not others, after all its not like other continents dont have their Poor? And they took only the opinion of 700 million people in a about 7 billion population? Ok.. done with my asking.

Its not just poverty making people migrate, I'd say the weather plays a part, people from hotter countries may be trying to move to Britain while lots of British are moving off to more southern European countries, for sun and to get away from the rat race. I am one who left my country, England, to come to the south of France,,, though wondering actually if I should not have picked somewhere hotter, now that winter is creeping in.
Regardless of the reasons, the grass is NOT always greener. I think the bigger question is why are so many disatified with where they live. I can understand people in communist countries where their freedoms are taken away wanting to leave, or people in impoverished countries with famine and war. Heck, what do I know. I will hush up now lol.
Would I were in a pleasant place, where I was free to be me, without oppression, hunger, weather changes or warring factions....I would never leave. On the other hand , if those factors existed and threatened my quality of life to the point of degradation.. I most certainly would see to some other place to live. It's really a good question, Rashmi.. and I guess the definition of mass migration vs a slow steady stream of one way traffic ...It's still the dream one is looking for..whether that is peace, or better treatment... This world is changing so fast .. and people are caught up in the changes .. and becoming a part of the bigger picture, changing in their own microcosmic sense. It's everywhere... The Planet has become a Home being remodeled in the truest sense... With lots of rooms to do....lol ..and nature is calling the shots .
Interesting ~ I don't know. It's not so easy for many people to move countries, maybe that makes the desire to do so stronger. Many many Moroccans attempt to cross the Straits to Spain every year, alot drown in the process. I always have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that a human being of this earth may not choose which country he wishes to live in without a load of red tape, or else do it illegally. I remember ages ago on the news, refugees on a boat, no country would let them land, and I couldn't beleive it! Humans not allowed on dry land! well, notwithstanding, we all make our own choices, in the wider picture.
@ Susan, Winter gets to me too, its the time I wish most to be somewhere else.
@ Jo, Satisfaction is a weird phenomenon, if we are satisfied, we become very complacent, and if we arent, we are constantly disappointed... its a pain either way.
@ Jackie, reminds me of something I heard years ago, its not the place or the people, Peace exists only within you...I wonder how long we humans, will fight over imaginary lines on the ground or abstract boundaries of faith.
@ Tracy, I feel sometimes choices are made for us, I never dreamed of living in the US, but here I am. There are practical issues to immigration and sometimes they seem to override our sense of humanity.
Yeah, I thought it was a strange article too.
