This was taken 3 years ago when we went to the Tom McCall Waterfront at Portland, OR. I did Crop this Picture. Every year around May-June Portland celebrates the Rose Festival. One of the Events at the Festival is the Dragon Boat Race.
These are a set of Dragon Boats- a Gift to Portland from the sister city, Kaohsiung in Taiwan, that are used for a Boat race every year.
The practice sessions start around April. This year about 100 teams are participating. The races are held on the Willamette River near the Hawthorne Bridge in boats provided through the Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association.

cool! the dragon boats are pretty... ours here, they are just painted not really with the head and tail details...
