Creative Challenge - Wind in my face.

Looking through the Bars

Of the prison of life

Wanderings aimed

At aimless destinations

Watching the eagle glide

In the endless Blue

A stray breeze beckons

To feel its touch

Compelled to escape

Unto the great unknown

I stand at the edge

While the Wind in my face

Screams “FREEDOM"

"Freedom(s) do not come without a price paid. He paid his, my turn now." Something I overheard one day in Washington, DC, I always figured was a mother of a veteran.

Freedom from many things we desire, especially that which holds us back from within. Freedom to be, to become, to surge forward. Once we can unlock that within ourselves, we can then really enjoy what has been given us ... life.

Nice write. 8=)

Ahh Freedom.. would we know what to do with it if we had it ? Or do we have it and not really know how to use it? Or does freedom mean not needing to run but to feel ok with what is ? And who created those bars? Freedom.. all in the mind ?

Oh! that woman spoke a truth of our present reality, the reality of invisible lines, boundaries, intended and unintended insults and of the us vs.them we like to hold on to...

I would like to find the kind of freedom where, I am home no matter where in the world I am. It requires me to be more of ME.. I have a long way to go.

Thank you Bill. :)

Not so far methinks.. I like to think if we can see it.. we are closer than if we could not see it at all..

What was that Janis Joplin said..."Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose." I think maybe some of us have to have nothing left to lose before we realize we can fly into whatever freedom we want. Ok, yea I said too much! Lol! I can taste it, though... Thank you!

Certainly lends more meaning to the phrase "free as the wind". ;) Life can feel like prison bars at times, I think, when we do not flex our wings and follow our dreams. Corny as that might sound.

I take it you don't fear the unknown LOL? Great poem!

I do fear the unknown, but sometimes I am forced to confront that fear and go with what is. And for the most part, there are more unknowns than knowns in my life, I am getting used to it ;).
