Poetry Wednesday - A cup of Sun

I have enjoyed her simple poetry.  These two verses are from her collections of poems from the book,  A cup of Sun.

To read about Joan Anglund Walsh, click on her name.

I

Thoughts,
               rest your wings.
Here is
              a hollow of silence,
A Nest of stillness
              in which to hatch your
                               dreams.

II

I have bravery
             to spend on Pain
I have faith
             to wall up fear
I have courage
to fight danger when it comes
But there is no defense against
             Loneliness.

Dear Rashmi~
You just brought back a memory. Somewhere and at some time I had a little book by this author, I remember the sweet illustrations. The poems are far deeper and so moving.

The final line--oh my--
But there is no defense against
Loneliness.

What a simply statement that hits home.
Thanks!!!

I have never read her work but will now. Pain, fear and danger can be over come but loneliness had no defense. I almost feel this is an anthem to someone with a serious illness, all the defenses needed to fight the disease, but the long house of recovery is sometimes battled alone.

So simple yet so precise in intent. I shall enjoy reading more from this poet & thank you for the introduction!

It does feel like it... Recovery from Illness is a lonely time even when we have people taking care of us and being really compassionate, we have to work alone at healing ourselves.

Thank you Sue, Vickie, Jem and Sweet for dropping by and leaving comments :).

I have death to defy crappiness in life
and the promise of one last sweet breath to defy death.
With you I can fend off loneliness
but where would I be without friendship's sweet caress?
