This was brought to my attention as I read Indian Homemaker's Blog at http://tinyurl.com/2ar3ukm
This makes me sad. It makes me cynical especially when everyone I know goes around saying that India is so far ahead in education, technology etc and then you have something so brainless happen. It really makes me wonder where we are headed.

This certainly is horrific Rashmi. It does make you wonder for sure.
I cringe... not for the young woman, but for the family who must carry the burden of proof to their graves for their decision to murder their own. This is not confined to law, custom, morality or a sense of right...This is simple straightforward consciousness..or the lack of it. Religion , pride, societal caste are but excuses to maintain control and egoic images.
That young woman was martyred by her choice , both here on the planet and by her voluntary experience for the upliftment of this planet. Bless her, and I thank her for this contribution to consciousness. She did her 'job'...and no blame to any other, but in hopes of awakening a system that reeks of dualities of conscience.
It amazes me, that a country which is known for its contributions to science, math, philosophy etc.. has citizens such as these too... Talk of Yin-Yang.. this is it.
What amazes me more is that it is not only tolerated it is ignored in the legal sense... This is murder.. pure and simple ... Shame on the Powers That Be !!
It happens here as well.
it happens in other countries as well...it is always hard for me to grasp how one person could kill another, but being a mother I don't understand (and never will) how you could do this to your own flesh and blood...
What???? In Britain??? Are you serious???
The Asian community has done it in Britain too, it happens in the Middle East, and they use the word 'honour' which seems totally the wrong word to me as there is nothing honourable about it. There should be shame on the family that perpetrates such an act against their own children. I always cry whenever I hear these stories. A land where the goddess is worshipped should surely see that every woman and girl is a vehicle and expression of the goddess. I have such a fascination for India, but the bride burnings and 'honour' killings, what to speak of the corruption just freaks me out.
True Susan, the corruption is bad and it gets to you whether you are for it or against it once you live in the country...Its like nothing ever gets done unless someone hands feels the grease of money. It does annoy me. The options are limited, we end up thinking "Do I wait until I am 90 years old to get this done or do I pay illegally and get this done when I can actually do stuff?" After all we dont live eternally, and there is a time frame within which we would really need and enjoy stuff like licenses for vehicles, when we need titles and registration to build our own homes, when certificates for marriages, births, deaths are needed etc.. We cant wait forever for these things and if they take more than a few months, yep, corruption(in this case bribing the officials who are sitting on the files that they are actually employed to pass) is the route to take.
That is a heartbreaking story, Rashmi. I will never understand how man can inflict such cruelty upon his/her own kind. Never. And I hear what you are saying about your anger and frustration and disappointment about it happening in your homeland. I have never been to India, but it has always struck me as a progressive and very spiritual place. Unfortunately, much violence takes place in all corners of the world. I wish I knew the answer.
Sad.
