Sometimes studying a particular field makes you very reluctant to be open to fields that seemingly go against what you have learned, studied and seemingly understood. There are some life experiences that science doesn't have an explanation for. I know that it was difficult to convince others about an experience that defies logic. So I avoid any discussions that I knew is true from experience but couldn't be explained via known science. Its fascinating to me when at some point during the wanderings of my nomadic mind, weird explanations pops up for what lies within the field of "Unknowns".
When it comes to the un-explainable, I have observed these about human beings- when an event happens, as long as we are not emotionally invested/involved or are not affected, we can maintain an objective perspective. When it comes to experiences, most of us get too carried away and cant differentiate between what really happened and what we think "must have" happened. When the experience is something that doesn't fall within the realm of our understanding(logical or otherwise) a) we either deny it ever happened b) we narrate it and risk being disbelieved. c) we will try to find someone who has gone through the same experience, so we feel like we like we aren't alone) we will twist it to fit our paradigm of understanding. That's human nature. (Phew! That was the marathon sentence)
Back to the topic, here's my random explanation for things like Psychic ability, Healing through touch, Calming presence to name a few of the unreal. I learned this at school- Everything at the core is a group of particles and their interaction/relationship with each other, during which they give off fields of energy. That has been the base of my understanding the world- everything, from the minute grain of sand to all things in the universe, is energy that is active, passive or changing form. I am not saying anything that hasn't already been said by someone, somewhere at sometime. So here's my "Idling, spark plugs needs to be shined mind's" explanation for all things "unreal" that people can do. Maybe it is because they have understood how to manipulate the energy around them.
If you look at subjects like Vaastushastra, Feng shui, Yoga, Acupressure, Acupuncture and Reiki they talk of energy centers and energy meridians that are part of the earth's objects and the Human Body. When we talk about the Geological make up of the earth, there is talk of magnetic and electromagnetic fields and of radio waves. When we talk of the atomic science we talk of Nuclear energy. At the innermost core of everything, is this invisible Energy that can be felt. I feel that the reason why some people are more in tune with the energy around them is because either through their natural disposition or in the process of learning they have tuned their sensitivity to a Maximum level. When we sense this energy, we can decide to either use it or abuse it.
Lets take aromatherapy for example, It works only because we can smell and smells are associated with our emotions in some weird manner. The process of smelling is a series of chemical reactions. The object that we are smelling, gives out particles(made of atoms so are associated with a potential to give off energy) called odorants. When they enter our Nostrils where the skin has receptors(nerves cells, so are again associated with protein molecules, which implies core is atom, hence associated with a potential to give off energy). The receptors act differently by releasing different adjacent proteins for the different smells and then the message is transmitted to the Limbic system of our brain(its supposedly the most primitive part of our brain that is associated with memory and emotions) and we feel a smell is <put your adjective here>. So manipulate the smell(implying change the atoms around you and hence the energy around you) and your mood will change. I have noticed that lemon and popcorn smell makes me feel active, while cardamom makes me feel nice and sweet, lavender and chamomile smell makes me very relaxed and sometimes sleepy. I guess it isn't the same for everyone.
Apply this to everything else.. Do feel good when you are walking through a the woods or in a garden? Are there smells that make you angry? How do you feel when you walk into a closed space? Does the feeling change when you walk with different people? Do some people make you uncomfortable? Why do you think that is? Do some people make you feel calm no matter where you are? Why do you think that is? Does a massage feel good? Does being in a certain place make you feel very confident? Do some places make you feel like you are not safe? Do you like all sounds? or do some sounds annoy you and some sounds you can listen to anytime? If so what sounds do you like? Ever wonder why?
Going to stop my Random theory for Now.. Let me know what you think?
Peace always
Mithuna.
