Creative Challenge #74 -As thick as thieves

I leaf through the scrapbook, dusty with age.
Every visit to my past, brings a new outlook into my life's page.

Me and my  memories
Are thick as thieves.
Childhood files -
The fall from the tamarind tree
The  time we ran around naked and free
Rainy day screams at the leech on my feet
Wishing it could hear my fear in the peat
Catching crabs in the rice bunds
Collecting eggs in the chicken coup
Childhood, with its unlimited fun.

Me and my memories
Are thick as thieves.
College days files -
Us layering chalk dust on the teacher's desk
Just so we could measure her seat's breadth
That time in the bus when we stood statuesque
After purposely touching  the baldman's head
Getting off at the wrong bus-stop
Just so we could see the movie star
Youth, Gone in such a flash.

I sit quietly reminiscing, What I was and what I am
Gratefully Understanding, It is enough
I am what I am.

it so nice to reminisce...and to be content to be who you are...

(I love tamarind, where you getting the fruit when you fell?)

Ah, we are, indeed, what we are.

I love the phrase, "Me and my memories are thick as thieves". What insight!

Sometimes we forget to remember ourselves.

Yes, we were... Mixed with salt, chilli power and fennel, it tastes very yummy.

Ahhh memories and you thick as thieves! :) That's a nice one Rashmi. Nicely expressed. I could visualize the childhood antics... and the college days too :)

Oh, I like this. It's a gentle stroll down memory lane. No regrets and accepting of the present. Well done.
