Ria sat there, quietly listening to his tirade while her mind wandered over the events these 5 years. He ranted on how she was to blame for the mess their marriage is. How she never had any qualities of a woman or wife or mother... She wanted to ask - If she was so devoid of any femininity, why had he not refused to marry her in the first place. It was a matter of his choice... but she didnt. She wanted to ask - If she wasnt wifely enough, why did he comply to having children. It was a matter of his choice... but she didnt. She wanted to ask - If she was such a lousy mother, why did he not fight harder to win custody of the children... but she didnt.
Somewhere inside her, she was completely aware, her mind saw clearly in spite of the chaos outside. - She will be alright. His opinion has nothing to do with who she is. He never really saw her for who she is. You dont blame a Blind man for knocking into a another who can see... Do you?
He stood there spent from his rant.. Somewhere inside him, without his awareness, his mind admired her poised form - She is calm even now. I wish she'd scream and yell at me. The children are better off with her. I better keep my end of the settlement and be a good father to them.
Fortitude smiled, enveloping her within while opening the door for him.

Wives over the millennia.
Sadly now its changing, I'm beginning to see really vicious breakups. Its scary what we do to our kids.
love the maturity and higher consciousness playing out in this human drama
Great line! Your poem says so much about awareness and fortitude.
ah lots of emotions in this...difficult for all involved...very well worded
glad to see you writing again my dear :)
So much insight, Rashmi...Grace under fire..withstanding the barrage of hateful attacks...Courage to stand there and take the shots fired...The tragedy is the shooter doesn't know how to stop the barrage..as the bullets boomerang from her soulful eyes back into his own soul , gathering frustration and fermenting it until he blows again. Sometimes they get it... but the fires that were once passion in her heart, are now just cold embers raked clean from an empty grate.
Beautiful ....you bring so much to the heart for questioning....and the heart of a woman can reek with scarring...but it still beats with hope.
Thank you Jesus my children are grown LOL! I have been in this situation FAR too often over the last 15 years. Now they are grown, it no longer MATTERS what he says or think :o)!
GREAT write!

how devastating such situation is, especially to the children....such time is what needs fortitude the most in all concerned....usually the wife must endure all and having fortitude plus faith will carry her through..
a very powerful write, indeed!...
Thought-provoking!
