Ten Thought Tuesday - Mar 2nd 2010

1. We had a belated party for my son's 8th birthday on Sunday and he is happy.

2. I ordered so much cake that we had cake for breakfast and dinner yesterday.  All this after sending two chunks to my neighbours.

3. I am still reading Thich Nhat Hanh's books on Anger, Peace and Power and felt like I have more of the 1st and less of the other two... Shouldn't it be the other way round?

4. I have slipped up on Pranayama and haven't done it in the last 3 weeks.. have to get back to it.

5. I notice when life gets a little busy, its what I do for myself that gets shelved.  Note to self : I need to be more about ME.

6.  I love movies made from an older period in history. Apart from actors doing a good job at portrayal, I think, its because of the costumes, the subtlety and depth of emotions.  My recent watch was a miniseries called "North and South" with Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage and "Doctor Zhivago" with Keira Knightley and Hans Matheson. Both were a good watch.

7.  The weather is getting better, but I am afraid that if I appreciate it, I will jinx it.

8.  Why is it difficult to understand that there is a difference between Criticism, Personal Preferences and Opinion?

9. I feel very un-savvy with technology cause I do not use the cell phone, the computer, facebook etc..with the fervor that many others in my peer group use, they text, sms, use the blue-tooth, access email via phone, never part with their laptops and have conversations everyday on facebook, Have accounts in numerous Networking sites...While for me, all of that serves a purpose but I can happily exist without it.  Is something wrong with me?

10.  Self-Discoveries this Week :

  • I am lazy. I got only 25 % of the jobs, done on my to do list. On the other hand, I don't know why I punish myself with the LIST.
  • I am not as brave as I thought I was. I still jump every time a spider or a reptile crawls out.
  • My children think I am funny cause I tickle them into never-ending  laughter. Should I tell them, Funny is associated with Wit and not with tickles?

I am scared of spiders too, but when the kids were smaller they were starting to scream when seeing one, so I always brave out and kill the creatures to reasure the little ones. Does this make for a cure?

Yes!! they would. They had fun when I left them with their Father for 6 weeks when I was in India... But when I got back they were very glad I was cooking, they didnt have any complaints for the next 2 weeks. After that, it was back to normal.

And back to normal is..just life..and just life is great!

I dont know.. It scares me when I am least expecting it. After my initial Jumping out of my skin, I am the one who picks them up in a container of some kind and put them out of the house...I wonder if that is a cure too? *giggling*

I was doing that with bees, especially, saving them, but never with spiders! Gee...am I a spider-monster?

I love movies like the ones you mentioned above. Gone With the Wind was one of my favorites as a teen. Last I watched with my daughter Pride and Prejudice, BBC production. Splendid!

Love Austen too. Persuasion didn't impress me much, though..

I like Agatha Christie's Hercule Piorot too. He had the brains and she had it too for making him have one :P...

I liked Sense and Sensibility and Emma better.

About computers and using technology with fervor..rapidity isnt everything! They might have better skills in using it but you excell in other aspects, like your beautiful writings... So, nothing is wrong with you!

True. It just felt like I was left behind, as if I wasnt Moving with the Times, in one of my conversations.

1. That's all that matters, that he's happy.

2. Cake seems to be getting sweeter every year.

3.Not enough 2 and 3 leads to 1.

6. I'll have to keep an eye out for that Dr Z.

7. The weather here is fantastic at the moment.

8. Because there are some people who just want to be Right all the time.

9. There's something wrong with them.

10. It's funny when an authority figure does slapstick.

You did all that you can do, chalk it up to things you may wish to do.
I myself am feeling the same way with spring this year, I don't wish to get over anxious with the start of great weather so I just leave it up and wait and see.

Yum, cake for breakfast--as good as cold pizza, if not better ;).

Hmm, I will not criticize your personal preferences, but I will give you my opinion ;).

You have never struck me as lazy. Perhaps you are just easily distracted ;).

I am technologically challenged. I text now and then, do not have an Ipod or Blackberry. Do not feel the need for a bunch of gadgets.

I think funny is witty and ticklish ;).
