Beautiful Faces
In Ornate Cases
With skin so smooth,
In blood warm sheath
Youth seemingly pours
Through unseen pores.
Yet, the look in the eye
Says more than a sigh
Eyes cold and dead
Filled with the unsaid
Numb to the gnawing
Deep in the soul’s calling.
To pay attention
To the summation
Of that which you are
Much more, by far
Than what others see,
Those few drops in an open sea.
Beneath skin anoint,
In the pain of a joint,
Warm from blood’s kindle
On the fold of a wrinkle
On the bump of burned skin
Tucked under the jeweled pin.
Footprints in your heart
Sands that sets you apart
Scars, visible and invisible
Scars, of tears and smiles
Scars, borne in a wail
Scars, held in a silent sail.
Do not Despair
With thoughts Unfair,
Scars Enhance,
Life’s Romance,
Strengthening your insight,
Holding beauty in plain sight.

It sounds so Heartfelt and speaks of Life experience, We all walk with our scars, and YES - the look in the eye, does say more than....what we sometimes SAY! Beautiful - Thank You! *~f~*
There are times when it isn't at all clear why life throws us the rubbish it does, but years later having knowledge of th less happy aspects becomes eminently useful. Unfortunately that is always hard to see at the time.
Came back to read it again - Hmmm- this one stuck in my head - since my last read. Must have to do with all my scars and vanishing "visible" beauty, in the process of ageing.[measured by Commercial Standards - that have annoyed me all my Life]
Yeah - i agree with giles01 - it can be useful. But i could do without some of the knowledge I have now - and spared the scars.
