Bedoiun (Banjara)

Early in the morning

Sitting on the ridge

overlooking the meadow

Watching the red globe

Reveling in happiness

Sunshine in the heart

Smiles lighting the face.

Mother's loving pat

For every tiny step,

Hoisted on the shoulder

Of a proud father

Wrestling blood brothers

Teasing weepy sisters

Minds free, not a care,

Tasting sweet sticky fingers

Fruits from ladden trees

Heaven sent childhood.

Midday arrives

Bringing good tidings

Good friends, loyal love

Passion and Adventure

Flowing in the veins

Chest sturdy with Strength.

Long caravan trails

On the desert sands

Wide open spaces

An unexplored expanse

Knowing our destinations

Pride in every breath

Determined to succeed

Realities tangible

Footprints on the sand

Pathways for those to come.

Late in the evening,

Sitting in the tent,

Thoughts lost in the Dark,

Rechecking life's map,quietly

Pining for love lost in ambition,

Emptiness engulfs the heart.

Salty rivers, flood the plains.

Tired Camels lie

Outside pitched tents,

At a no name place,

The journey ending

Destination not in sight,

Knowing its time to sleep,

Wishing there was more light,

Shone on unanswered questions.

Defeated, feeling humbled

At the elusiveness of life.
