Life's Treadmill

Waking up, getting out of bed,
Always on the left side,
Slipping the feet into the slippers
Heading to kitchen.
Put on a fresh pot of coffee.

The same rhythm, every morn
While brushing the teeth.
Cold water stinging the warm body.
Getting dressed
Same hymns
And prayers at the shrine,
Different day.

Breakfast, reading the news
And then head out the door.
Same  events,
Different day.

Getting back home,
Turning the lights on,
Getting dinner ready,
Kids set the table
For a moment,
We gather, feeling the bonds
Listening to each others voices
As we recount and relate
The day's events
Reinforcing the ties of lives shared.

Back to routine,
Clean up the kitchen,
Get into pajamas,
Brushing the teeth
Rehearsing the rhythm
For the next day,
For the same events
On A Different day.

Rarely thinking about
What needs doing
A robot working
Through the program.

Automation with a difference
The feeling of boredom
Setting into Life
Gleaming eyes now listless
Excruciating pain that has no voice
Hearts screams for an out, going unheard,
Smiles replaced by frowns
Silence replacing the song,
Indifference replacing love,
Duty replacing Joy,
An Indefinable peace exists,
Same person, Alive but Dead inside.

Wow you have recounted the lives of the living dear as they call it and the horror of it is that it accounts for the lives of far to many on Earth today...Joy is the key word here ..find life again through JOY!!!

@ Milli - Most of us go through this phase of being the Living Dead. Some stay on it all through their lives...Joy is key, most of us fail to acknowledge that we can find Joy.

@ (hugs) Claudia, I hope you find just ONE thing in a day that Makes you Happy :).
